About Us
Mission Statement
Students Against Terrorism is a student-run organization whose goal is to demonstrate solidarity with Israel during these difficult times and to support victims of terrorism in Israel. The organization is committed to raising awareness in the community about the devastating effects of terrorism on Israeli civilians. Together, we send the important message to the people of Israel that they are not alone.
History
In March of 2002, six Yavneh Academy of Dallas high school students attended a Yeshiva University sponsored leadership conference in Connecticut. It focused on active leadership and various ways to help the situation in Israel. After the insightful and motivational conference, the students returned to Dallas to share their thoughts with other students. The result was the formation of Students Against Terrorism.
Past Sponsored Organizations
Camp Koby - Koby Mandell Foundation
Last year, Students Against Terrorism decided to donate the proceeds from Points for Peace to the Koby Mandell Foundation's summer camp for teenage terrorist victims. The camp runs for about a month every summer, with small reunions over the year, and helps around six to seven hundred teenagers. The camp provides therapy for the injured and psychological assistance, and gives the teens a once-in-a-lifetime chance to recuperate and bond with each other. The organization was named after Koby Mandell, a thirteen-year old boy abducted by Palestinian terrorists in 2001 and stoned to death in a cave. The camp is always in need of funding.
Magen David Adom - Israeli Red Cross (2003-2004)
Students Against Terrorism raised more than $30,000 for Magen David Adom, completing a Dallas fund to purchase a new ambulance for Israel's depleted fleet. The ambulance was brought to Dallas over the summer and is currently armored and operational in Israel.
Adopt-a-Family (2002-2003)
The Israel Emergency Solidarity Fund connected our organization to a family that suffered from a terrorist attack. In this project, known as Adopt-A-Family, we provided financial and emotional support to the family. Ariela Rosenberg, past president of Students Against Terrorism, visited the family in Israel and has kept in contact with them by phone. Over the holiday of Hanukkah, Students Against Terrorism sent a package to Israel filled with gifts and handmade holiday cards for the entire family. A beautiful Shaloch Manot basket was sent to the family on Purim. At the end of the year, our financial connection to the family was complete, but the emotional connection we have established will last a lifetime.
